Bed is where the dog is

As I’m sitting down to write this, Remy is spinning around in her dog bed violently pawing at the ground. Just when I think she’s going to claw right through to the floor, she turns two more circles and collapses in a huff.

We have five dog beds in our house and I’ve seen both dogs repeat this ritual on all of them. I’ve also seen them do this on rugs, the futon in the basement, the bed where Jen and I sleep, the big comfy chair, and a blanket folded on the floor. Occasionally I catch one of the girls trying to dig up a couch and I have to stop her for fear that she’ll tear through to the stuffing…
