I led a video training session for our breaking news reporter and editor here at The Day. The idea was that we’d add video to our coverage of spot news. We wedged into one day what I usually do in two (which is what I’d rather do over a whole week) figuring I could oversee the editing if they had the chance to produce something. The reporter, Izaskun Larraneta, and editor, Elissa Bass, had produced one feature-type story, when a boat caught fire yesterday while I was out shooting something else. By the time I had returned to the office, the video was edited and up on our site, with some help from photographer Tim Cook. There was a time when every video on our site had to go through me. It looks like we’re finally reaching the point where that’s no longer the case.
