My colleague, photographer Sean D. Elliot, has been following the the Herkner family for several months. Jennifer is home with two children while her husband is deployed to Afghanistan with the Connecticut National Guard. Just before the story was due to publish, we decided to put together an online component. So I went with Sean to shoot an interview with Jennifer, and then edited it togther with his photographs.
