At the end of March, it rained for three days straight. On the first day of major rainfall, rivers weren’t particularly high. I knew that the actual “news” was probably a day or so off, so I shot some scenes from around my house and worked with my partner in crime Rick Koster to put together a humorous, if somewhat morbid, look at the rainy day.

When I got to the rivers, I found out that the flooding was extremely serious. The video I ended up producing was sort of a hybrid between my original idea, a somewhat prosaic look at the rainfall, and the actual hard news coverage.

Reporter Jenna Cho and I set out to Old Mystic to document the residents and local firefighters as they dealt with the aftermath of the high water.
